A black and white world of secure cash transport

CST, CASH SECURITY-TEC GmbH, was established in 1993 and since then has been the leader in securing valuables and their transport in a variety of different industries. Over 30 years of experience in the "cash handling" industry worldwide now needed to be presented in an entirely new way. We responded to this challenge with deep analysis of the customer target group which led us to conclude that strong brand value was the main message which we wanted to express in online communication: we needed to break the stereotype of a product that seems to be boring at first, that carries little emotion, by somehow showing that cash security can be sexy. With this approach in mind, we started building a web service that aimed to generate perceived needs in persons who didn't see value in using cash security products until they came to the website.

A new web service to present the product was built upon three main pillars:

  1. An image that denies stereotypical associations and builds new and more appealing ones, e.g. money-suitcases can be nice. They can be a premium gadget that matches the car, watch, or business suit. Thanks to this, we were able to leverage suitcase design (which wasn’t exposed until then) and then convert potential customers who value that.
  2. Because of brand exclusivity, the website is not your typical e-commerce site, it is more about the product presentation and letting the sales department know about the interest in the product. The sales process is then continued by the sales department.
  3. We work closely with the customer's Marketing Manager and so the web service reflects and embeds the whole marketing strategy, which was the main point for this particular website.

What — Project Scope

Responsive (RWD) online product catalogue that reflects the world of the brand, its history and atmosphere. To transform a real-life showroom experience into the web, an experience in which the user will be greeted with the smell of coffee and leather chairs, with the products presented through features and professional data.

How — Information Architecture, Moodboards, Wireframes

Adjusting a company’s image is a plan that requires maximum concentration on the initialising stages. Target group analysis led us to design concepts upon which we were able to step into further work: building the structure of service, the information architecture, and designing clickable mockups. This work consists of providing users with access to questions, answers, and even bonus answers! At the same time, we presented two separate approaches to the graphics for the Customer using moodboards. Two designers with the same goals, two different ideas that were the foundation of our further work.

How — Graphic Design

The web service graphic responded to the need for combining the product catalogue with meeting an elegant account manager online. A Black and White world builds a background to the product, emphasising only those elements that are most important to communicate. This is the connection of elegance and precision, design with craftsmanship.
We were thinking of contrasts. If it’s just colours and information - security is boring, so let's play with some self-distance; we added hipster photo and, as a cherry on top – a film.

How — Development and Implementation

A Client's exact technical requirements are always discussed and analysed before we come to suggesting solutions, functionalities, and themes. In this case, intuitiveness and simplicity of editing the content were the basis for proposing Wordpress as a CMS and technical framework for the web service. Presentation, as well as product catalogue, were built in this CMS with some custom-developed additional modules.

CMS Panel

The Administrator can very easily manage products without the need to configure various settings thanks to the combination of custom post types, custom fields, and shortcodes.

Front-end add-ons

This is one of the realisations; small front-end add-ons gave the graphics support and a feeling of uniqueness. A few stylish CSS animations decorate the website with an individual charm.
